Risky Dishes for Rescue Dogs is the last book in the Real Dogs Cook book series! I was both excited, and a bit sad, when I received this book in the mail. Excited because I've loved reading each of the previous 7 books in this series, but sad because I knew this was the last one. Risky Dishes for Rescue Dogs features 'recipes' by Howie "Homeboy" MacScruff, a rescue dog with a taste for risky, mismashed meals.
I'm not going to go into too much detail about the book itself mostly because all 8 of the books in the series are pretty similar. I feel like I've been repeating myself a lot in all of these reviews. What I do want to do is go back and link you to what I posted about each of the other 7 books in this series, so you can look back and check them each out if you want too.
- Pastry for Poodles
- Barbeque for Bulldogs
- Spaghetti for Sheepdogs
- Tex-Mex for Terriers
- Kung Pao for Pekingese
- Seafood for Schnauzers
- Leftovers for Labs
I also wanted to say that, while these 8 books are very similar, I found them all to be enjoyable. They are each written in the perspective of different dogs. The 'personalities' of each dog really gave each book it's own spin. Although I never attempted to make any of the recipes in the books (actually creating them would probably take some guesswork) they never failed to make me smile. Any (or all!) of the books in this series would make great gifts for anyone with a sense of humor, especially if they also happen to love dogs!
If you've read any of the books in this series comment below and let me know what you thought! I'm also looking for new book recommendations. If you've read any good books lately comment below and let me know about them!
