I apologize for my lack of posts lately. Life sometimes gets a bit hectic, as I'm sure everyone understands. Around this time of the year, thanks to the impending holidays, my "regular" job always has a lot of extra hours available which I've been taking advantage of. On top of that, my fiance came down with a cold last week which he, of course, also decided to share with me. Misery loves company, or so they say. Yesterday, as if working extra hours while being sick all week wasn't enough, Kit wasn't feeling well either. Something was giving him an upset tummy, which unfortunately isn't all that rare for Kit. He's always had a very sensitive stomach. I'm not sure what triggered his latest episode, if maybe he ate something that didn't agree with him or what. ...continue reading "Can Dogs Catch Colds from Humans?"
Here we are, almost at the end of another month! I hope that everyone celebrating Halloween tomorrow has a fun day.
My budget around this time of the year always gets a bit wacky. I only get paid by my job once a month, which means I have just two paychecks left before Christmas! Not only that, but my fiances birthday is in November and Kit's birthday is the day after Christmas. On top of budgeting for the holidays, we had some unexpected expenses the other week when a pipe in our bathroom broke and flooded our apartment. Even with unexpected expenses and setting aside some money for the holidays, you know The Paw Pack still gets spoiled! ...continue reading "October 2017 Pet Favorites"
Tomorrow, October 28th, marks the 7 year anniversary of the day Paw Print Pet Blog was created! How crazy is that? Our first post ever, way back in 2010, was about betta fish. The red/blue/white betta fish pictured in that post was named Courage. I got Courage (the cowardly betta) while I was still in college. When I graduated from college and moved 4 hours away to live with my then boyfriend, Courage came with me. He survived the move despite being quite old by then and enjoyed living with us in our new apartment until 2010, when he peacefully passed away. Courage was not my first betta fish but he was my last...until now! ...continue reading "Celebrating Our 7th Blogiversary – Name the Blog Betta!"
I don't know why, but I'm not really feeling Halloween this year. We have two big boxes full of Halloween decorations that I'm not even going to bother putting up. We live on a busy commercial street so don't usually get many (if any) trick or treaters, so I'm not even going to bother attempting to give out Halloween candy this year. I didn't make/get costumes for the dogs like I usually do either. I figure we'll all just stay in on Halloween night, maybe put a movie in, and let the holiday pass by quietly this year. ...continue reading "Triple Threat Halloween Dog Treat Recipe"
I've mentioned NaturVet Aller-911 Allergy Aid supplements in a few of our Pet Monthly Favorite posts now. I keep saying that I'm going to post a more in depth review of this product but haven't gotten around to it - until now! As a quick prelude for anyone who doesn't know already, my 8 year old Papillon Kitsune suffers from both food and environmental allergies. His food allergies are pretty easy for us to keep under control, we just have to make sure he doesn't eat things that he's allergic too. His environmental allergies, unfortunately, have proven to be a bit more difficult and for some reason Kit's environmental allergies were extra bad this year. ...continue reading "NaturVet Allergy Aid Review"
Last month when I posted our September monthly favorites post I mentioned that I had purchased some catnip. I, sadly, didn't get any cats to go with it. While I personally quite enjoy the company of cats there won't be any joining the Paw Pack anytime soon - my fiance is allergic to them. So why is someone without any cats buying catnip? Because it's safe for dogs too! ...continue reading "Catnip…for Dogs!"
We've had Fenrir for just a bit over 2 years now! Although we celebrated his 2nd birthday on August 1st, he actually joined our pack on September 27th, 2015. I say stuff like this all the time, but it's crazy to me that two years have passed so quickly. In a way it feels like Fenrir has been a part of our family forever, but in other ways he still very much feels like the new kid on the block. Owning two dogs at once for the first time in my life has been an interesting experience with, if I'm honest, both pros and cons. I'll say up front though that I adore both my little boys and even though they can make life a bit crazy at times, I wouldn't trade them for the world. ...continue reading "Two Years of Having Two Dogs"
The "life" of lamb, or - the slow demise of a dog's favorite toy...
When I set out to start this post I wasn't aware of exactly how long ago the story had begun. Then, while searching for pictures of Fen with his favorite toy "lamb" on my Instagram page, I came across that picture to the left. I originally posted it back in November of 2015, which would make Fen around 3 months old in that picture. It's not the best picture, I admit, but you should be able to make out that fuzzy white toy Fen has with him. That is lamb in his prime. That is Fen's favorite toy. ...continue reading "The “Life” of Lamb"
