My beloved Kitsune has been having a bit of a rough summer this year.  A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how he's been dealing with a lot of allergy issues.  Kit's always had allergies ever since he was a tiny pup, but his environmental allergies this summer have been particularly bad.  Near the end of June/beginning of July he developed quite a few hot spots that have luckily since healed.  We've been working with a holistic vet to get Kit's allergies under control and I've been optimistic that his current treatments seem to really be helping.  However, when it rains it pours and unfortunately Kit has recently had to deal with another health issue. ...continue reading "What Happened to Kit’s Tail"

Last weekend the dogs and I went hiking.  Awhile after we got home I was cleaning up the house a bit and found a foxtail on the bedroom floor.  I figured either the dogs or I must have brought it home from our hike, perhaps it was stuck onto my clothing or the dogs' fur.  After finding that one on the floor I promptly checked over both the dogs to make sure they didn't bring any other hitchhikers home.

For most people, the word "foxtail" doesn't conjure up images of horror.  But ask any unfortunate pet owner whose pet has had a run in with these pesky plants, and you'll most likely hear at least a few horror stories.  They may look innocent enough, but foxtails can present some very real dangers to pets. ...continue reading "Protect Your Pets From Foxtails"

Usually when we get items in our pet subscription boxes, we briefly tell you all about the individual items in our box reviews but never go into much detail.  This week I thought it might be fun to take a closer look at one of the items we received in our July Pooch Perks box.  When we wrote our Pooch Perks review we showed you the Pet Cakes frozen treat, but because we hadn't actually made the treat we couldn't really review it.  Last week we had a couple of really hot days which I figured would be perfect for letting the dogs try a frozen treat. ...continue reading "Pet Cakes Frozen Treats for Dogs Review"

How time flies - on August 1st our little Fenrir will be turning 2!  So if his birthday is still over two weeks away, why am I posting about it now?  Because Fen wants you to help us celebrate! ...continue reading "Fenrir’s 2nd Birthday Bash Giveaway!"

Hey everyone!  Today we're posting our review for our July Mini Monthly Dog Box of Awesome.  Since we already posted our Pooch Perks review earlier this month, this will be review two out of three for the dog subscription boxes that we review regularly.  We are currently up to three boxes that we review on a monthly bases, plus most months we get quite a few requests to do one off reviews for additional pet subscription companies as well.  I keep thinking that maybe we should cut back on the number of surprise box reviews we do each month, but my dogs have SO much fun with them, and our reviews generate a lot of views so I figure at least some people must be interested in reading them. ...continue reading "July 2017 Mini Monthly Dog Box of Awesome"

Warning:  This post contains images of Kitsune's hot spots.  If images of dog wounds/blood bother you you should skip this post.

Anyone who's been a Paw Print reader for any length of time, especially recently, probably already knows that I'm not a huge fan of the hot weather.  Personally I'd rather be cold than hot, and my pets, for the most part, seem to tolerate the colder weather better than the heat as well.  While I've written recently about how we're not crazy about the heat, I don't think I've ever written in depth about the true bane of our summers - Kitsune's summer time itchies and his resulting hot spots. ...continue reading "Kitsune’s Summer Time Itchies (Dealing with Allergies and Hot Spots in Dogs)"
