Who caught on to our little (for now) secret? We've had a pair of new pets since November 14th! Koopa and Zamboni are cherry head red footed tortoises. My fiance and I have discussed getting this kind of tortoise off and on for a couple of years now, so I wouldn't say we got them on an impulse, but we were originally going to wait until after we move to get anymore pets. I'm pretty sure that was two aquariums and now two tortoises ago. Oops. ...continue reading "Introducing Koopa & Zamboni (Cherry Head Red Footed Tortoises)"
There's been so many crazy natural disasters lately, my heart really goes out to those who have been affected. Back in 2012 our areas was one of those that was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. We had to go a cold October/November week without gas and electricity, which was quite the experience. At the time I had three Leopard Geckos that I had to worry about keeping warm without heat or electricity. Many pet owners understand the importance of preparing for our more traditional pets, cats and dogs, in the event of an emergency, but during the recent bout of hurricanes I came across many reptile owners in particular who were unsure of how/what to prepare for their scaly friends. ...continue reading "Emergency Planning for Reptiles"
I'm alive - Well, for the most part. Around the end of the week last week I started feeling really run down. It had been a pretty busy week, so I originally thought that maybe I had just overdone things a bit. I figured, since the weekend was coming, that I'd have plenty of time to relax and unwind after my busy week. ...continue reading "Of Pets and the Flu"
Tomorrow is Halloween! Are you doing anything to celebrate? My fiance bought way more candy than I think we are going to need. We live on a pretty busy street, so in past years haven't gotten many trick or treaters. Despite that, we're planning on dressing up the pups and sitting outside to give out candy. Since I'll have my hands full tomorrow, I took Halloween pictures of all the pets a few days early. ...continue reading "Happy Halloween from the Paw Pack"
Last week I posted some new pictures of my younger Leopard gecko, Miyuki, and mentioned that I have a couple of pet birthdays coming up. Yesterday was one of them - Aurora turned 7 years old!
I know everyone says this, but I can't believe that 7 years have passed so quickly! ...continue reading "Happy Hatchday Aurora!"
I hope everyone is having a great week! September is a busy month for us as far as pet stuff goes. We have a couple of pet birthdays coming up and potentially some big news coming towards the end of the month!
Miss Miyuki, having celebrated her 4th birthday back in June, isn't one of our birthday critters this month. Last night I wanted to do a photo shoot with one of our pets and, as you can see, it ended up being Miyuki! For "wordless" Wednesday I wanted to focus on one of the pets that isn't celebrating a birthday this month. ...continue reading "Miyuki Update"

This is going to be my last post for my summer reptile series. But have no fear, I'll (of course) continue posting about reptiles, my reptiles especially, regularly just like I've always done. This summer I've already posted a general introduction to reptile care, then a more in dept look at the care needs of Leopard Geckos. Today I want to do something different, and write a bit about my experiences keeping reptiles as pets. ...continue reading "Proper #ReptileCare Makes Keeping Reptiles Fun"
I was recently tagged by the lovely Anne from Whiskers to Paws to take part in the 8 photos of happiness tag. Started on Ariel's Little Corner of the Internet, the idea is to share 8 pictures that represent happiness. Hopefully the pictures I selected make you smile, I know I had a lot of fun looking through all my old photos. ...continue reading "8 Photos of Happiness"
